Connecting Cultures is the story of education and coffee connections between Cincinnati and Guatemala, forged person to person. Filmmaker Laure Quinlivan traveled to Guatemala with Cincinnati Rotarians in February to explore the ties enriching lives.
About Connecting Cultures Film
Education
The education connection began 30 years ago when a couple guys from Cincinnati’s west side discovered schools in Guatemala had no books! They pulled together people from around the world to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala through literacy. Thanks to Cooperative for Education, many Cincinnatians sponsor Guatemalan students to graduate high school.
Coffee
Local colleges have study abroad programs in Guatemala, thanks to female business relationships in the coffee world that began with the owners of
Coffee Emporium in Cincinnati.
Connections
Guatemalans are the immigrants most helping grow and change
Cincinnati schools, churches and neighborhoods.
